‘Colours Of India’
Welcome to my most recent collection ‘Colours Of India’ - this is a body of work inspired from my travels to India. I re visited and finished off this collection over lock down, as I have always been inspired from the importance of everyday life, family and community as well as the spirit and colour I saw throughout my travels
Starting in Goa I visited the Bethesda Life Centre in Goa, India. This orphanage was founded by Martin a Beena in 2001. Providing an early education, they wanted to help children of AIDS victims and commercial sex workers.
The girls may have lost their own family but one big family is to be seen. Everything they had they shared between them and passion to learn for a better future. Recently Martin and Beena have also been helping support the pandemic and donated 3000 injection to the Goa Medical College treatment of Covid- 19.
After visiting the orphanage I travelled south to Kerala. Below are painted scenes from the peace of the waters to the bustle of the market.
10% of the girls will be donated back to the Bethesda Life Centre.
